You can also enable the "connections" tab from the view menu. Our statistics don't really accurately reflect what's really available at any one time, basically just because it's really hard to collect anything accurate on a distrubuted network like Gnutella (it's also just not a high priority over improving search and download capabilities).

The connections tab will tell you who you're directly connected to, though.
