in LW you can choose to 'download as'..which means you get to choose its filename...

I haven't had any problems downloading files with rather weird looking titles (obviously BS is not 'translating' the characters)...

I suspect the issue is more on the lines of firewalls, open slots, etc...

as Urs noted, please give us more information

client, firewall, connection type, ISP, lots of stuff!
