If there's only one source for a file, or if the search only returns one source, there won't be a number under the # column. Also when you do a search you don't connect to every user on the network.
So if you find a file you want, double click it to start it d/ling then right click it and search for the exact file name you just started d/loading. This will help bring up sources that your original search didn't find.
