1. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link) so it will decrease drag on LW when opening.

2. I have no idea which version OSX you are using, either of you. It makes a big difference. Java is generally the issue.

As for your pc problem, try changing your version of Java; ie: remove all previous versions & reinstall either Java 1.5 or 1.6. Also delete the LW prefs folder.
