Default wma files....

I am very new at this sort of thing. I have noticed that when I download music most of them are mp3. There is one called wma. Awhile back when I got some of those I was able to play them like all the rest of the music. Now, they won't play. I get a box saying something like I'm not authorized to play them. Could someone please explain this to me? Thanks in advance and taking the time to read my message. LET THE POWER BE WITH YOU.........
