It sounds like your Sony player does not read CD-RW's which is not unusual. Do you have a dvd player? Try burning using Toast to a dvd-rw & see how your dvd player handles it. Some dvd players do not play rw's but many do. I'm not sure if dvd players support the cd-g format but it's worth experimenting with to see if it at least works.
I don't know the difference between audio cd with text & cd-g format & whether the 2 are the same or different. Toast can burn audio cd's with text.

One thing I did find from my searches was your burner needs to support cd-g burning. I'm not sure if yours does. Also best to burn at minimum speed. Some tips
