Default Problems with Vista and Firewalls

First of all, I realize that this thread may seen redundant, since there are countless other threads with people not being able to use Limewire with a firewall on Vista. But I've read nearly all of these threads, and tried everything they suggested, and I'm still having a problem. So:

1. OS version? Windows Vista
2. What firewalls you have? Windows Defender firewall and Norton Antivirus Firewall. I always keep the Defender firewall off and occasionally turn the Norton off as well, when I'm trying to get Limewire to work.
3. How much ram? 512mb
4. Hard Disk space available? 115.6 GB
5. Connection type? Wireless connection to a DSL modem [this might not makes sense, if it matters I can look into it and find the correct terms, sorry!]
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? not sure, I'll check if needed
7. Where are you trying to connect from? my house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW V.4.14.8 java v.6 update 2
9. Who is your ISP provider? Adelphia High-Speed internet
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? I'm sharing my internet connection with another computer, but I'm not sharing the actual Limewire program.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I'm an experienced user, I guess. Limewire has worked for me on both Windows 98 and Windows XP without a catch. I think it's just a problem with Vista and firewalls.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, I do.

Now, I know some of the suggested solutions-
1) turning off your firewall completely
2) making an exception for Limewire and/or Gnutella in your firewall
3) setting Limewire's compatibility to Windows XP rather than Vista
4) setting an exception for the actual Gnutella port [this is the only one I haven't tried because I don't know how]
^ None of these have worked.

Also, I see that firewall problems tend to come with McAfee, not Norton. Are there other things I can do since I use Norton, and not McAfee?

All of your help is very much appreciated. Let me know all your suggestions and if you need any more information. Thank you!
