Let's see if I can answer your questions, you asked:
Quote:
When I run a search and pick a result to DL, and it begins DL'ing. All is good. Then I assume the host turns off his computer, or shuts down LW, or something else happens to the connection and it sits in "awaiting sources" or "needs more sources" status for a long time at say 27% complete, is there a way to find another host/server/whatever to continue the DL? Or, do I have to perform the search all over and begin a brand new download." |
In the current version of LW you can put your mouse pointer over the file you are downloading, in the download screen, then right click your mouse button, you will get a pop-up box with several options. Two of those option are :
a) repeat your search.
b) search for the specific named file.
(Sorry, I'm at work at the moment and so cannot attach a screen print of this "search again" facility.)
I have used this facility and it has worked, i.e. searched again and found the file I wanted and started to download from where the previous download stopped.
However, like all search facilities there is no guarantee that it will find that file you are after.
You next question:

My other thinking is that I can right click on the partially completed file and click the "find more sources" options. I've tried it, but never to a positive result. What actually happens when you perform this task? |
First of all, check out this link:
Howstuffworks "How Gnutella Works"
As you can see, your initial query (search for files) could reach 8,000 other computers, so a "Find More Sources" request could potentially reach another 8,000 or so computers by substituting the original starting point IP with another one.
However, to be certain you should put your question to the programmers at the LimeWire Beta Forum
