Its a shame Its such a shame that such a small thing has caused such a big misunderstanding,, but yes its true sometimes viruses can get in if pushed through especially since you dont have a firewall,, I dont know which operating system you are using, but Windows does have inbuilt firewalls which are pretty good,, do you use windows xp,, it has one all you need to do is turn it on,,, and even if you dont, if you are using windows, try downloading zonealarm (do a google search ) and you can download it.. the basic version is free.. and is sufficient and will even let you know if someone is trying to get into ur system, or if any programme (software) is trying to access the internet like your outlook mail box for e.g.,,, and dont bother about the antivirus thingie,, just uninstall it, and download AVG antivirus which is really good and free,, you can google that too,,firewall + antivirus will protect you from any such intrusions ..
And please tell your husband that often viruses take the name of a popular file and replicate in the gnutella network,, you see limewire works like this every computer connected online is a server and things can be downloaded and uploaded from it, its like that so if your comp is unprotected than things can get in,, it is possible,, you have to be careful downloading music too.. sometime viruses can masquerade as that too.. you have to see the file size does it look authentic. |
