Hello. I use Linux 2.4.2 and Gnut 0.4.21. I don't know how to use daemon mode, but I do know how to use scripting. It is really handy for setting config params correctly and making sure you aren't booting any users. You can type 'help load' for a quick scripting example. The Gnut manual for basic and advanced usage should have come with your distribution in /gnut-0.4.21/doc/gnut.html. You can also get the manual at

This explains pretty much everything you can change using commands & script. You can get to a couple more variables by typing 'set', which will list all config variables and their current values. Hope this helps.
