Default urgent - limewire file storage

Sorry, I am not the most computer literate out here. What I mean, is it possible for a user on his/her computer to "hack" into my computer using limewire, and download or store files on my computer that I don't want?

Thanks for any replies. Time is of the essence here. My son is being charged with possession of child pornography. According to police reports, a cp video was downloaded and viewed while my son was at work. He was not even close to his computer. So I'm wondering if it's possible for another computer user to download and view a video on my son's computer using limewire. It is irrefutable that he was at work. Only other option is that someone came into the house and used his computer (which I suppose is possible, as doors are never locked).

He has been given a plea offer, which we are considering. But I don't want him to take the deal if he is not responsible for downloading this video.

Again, thanks for any info.
