If LW is too busy then the LW media player suffers. iTunes cannot play mp3pro files which also have the .mp3 extension. A backup player you could look at is Audion (click on link) which plays mp3 pro & ogg vorbis files, but cannot play m4a files.

WinAmp creates it's own mp4 variation type of files. One of those formats cannot be played in iTunes.
