Hi Jennifer. It really doesn't matter that you uninstalled and reinstalled LW. Your Files are saved to your HDD. Really pay attention to Birdy's Thread as She explains the New File Locations. The LW Boys decided to Reek Havoc with the Newer Versions and change where the File are directed. Try Birdy's Advise and you should be OK.
The Firewall issue may need addressing if you aren't connecting to the Network. Post back if more assistance is needed.
