Redesigning Limwire's User Interface The user interface of Limwire could stand to be overhauled. Get rid of the left column of artist and album when browing musing, and change the browser workseet to show title, artist, album, year, bitrate and kind as the default view.
Instead of the searh tab as it is, use a dialog box to get the search parameters. Thiis would make the user interface cleaner and more user friendly.
Instead of tabs for search, monitor, connections etc. Use a table of contents on the left side where it can better display information. The tabs are limiting while the TOC idea would allow for more objects.
The TOC could be collapsed or expanded as desired with headings for audio, video, documents, programs etc. with searchs shown as sub headings.
Then the view window could show music by meta tag easily, video by title, documents by title and author, programs by file name etc.
This front end change could be implemented with minimal changes in the back end coding of Limewire. Changes could be things like better tag searching etc.
This redesign would make Limewire much more useable and sophisticated.
Then the player could be more reaily attached at the top like WinAMP or iTunes where downloads could be played directly.
A system level improvement, when the shared files lack metatags, go clean up the library by searching gracenote, freedb etc and tidy up shared MP3s etc.
Time for a change for the good. |
