My mistake, turning off Extended Tooltips should work even after restarting LW. Why yours are still showing suggests the preferences might be mucked up. Did you recheck to see that the tooltips is still turned off? Try turning it back on then off again. If still no good then make a note of all settings, then close LW & delete your LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed.
