Now, about this here "investment firm"...

Balls
Total Balls.

Peerless and I have got stuff installed, updated and always running that would make the above mentioned 'tale' an impossibility on our machines.

We are nothing special. We are not 'doing' anything special.
But, we are 'doing' 24/7 the simple basics.

This "investment firm" mentioned... Who was providing their 'security' ?
EDS or similar scum ?
For how many 100s of 1,000s per contract ?

Who established basic admin rights - user rights - sharing rights ?

Jeeeez, a quick scan of these Gnutella Forums would provide more than ample protection by simply applying the basics as recommended here by numerous posters.

I cannot help but think that this is just another garbage urban-legend tale.
Unfortunately, I also have absolutely no probs with believing that every word of it is true !!! LOL

I ran Malwarebytes on a "friend's" machine only 2 days ago...
This 'friend' is actually 'the man' and he works counter to child porn junk (plus other standard human foibles) in the country where I live... He's "large", as they say, in his biz...
Removed over 800 really bad-boogie apps that were embedded in his WORK PORTABLE.
He needed a jaw-bra !
He especially had a good chuckle over the more than 60 keyloggers discovered.
Gave him a copy to install in 'the office'... waiting to hear the results !

It really is simply unbelievable how bullsh*t the whole so-called computer security biz actually is... Well, no, it's not unbelievable...

Back to the 'investment firm tale'...

As sweet as it may be to have something else to 'blame' on Limewire, I just cannot see it... Nothing to do with them when it comes to the real-world level of properly specified, installed and maintained commercial networks... Especially those that are extremely 'sensitive'...
At the absolute minimum, it should have been completely impossible for ANY employee to even access the internet... Downloading and... AND installing apps should have been 100% impossible... Not only impossible but with bells, whistles, Monty Python 16 ton weights falling upon and... and... Meaning INSTANT alerts to admin personnel that somebody somehow managed to hack security and do something amazingly stupid.

As I said...
It's urban-legend
or
Dumfukistan über alles.........

hmmm... Thinking about it, it's probably the latter.
