Could be a missing CODEC. You can get a CODEC pack for WMP free at download.com. I think Microsoft also has one for free at MSN marketplace.

The missing CODEC problem usually occurs with AVI files.

Could be that the files are corrupted or fake. Many fakes are distributed in an attempt to discourage p-p. Check files with Bitzi before downloading.
