Do you mean of iTunes or LimeWire? It is possible to downgrade to an earlier version of iTunes (earlier than version 7.7 or even to 6), but requires some tricks to do it.

There is a possibility that the next version of LW will have compatibility back with iTunes. iTunes apparently made some changes that have mucked up compatibility of its shared library with any version of LW.
