Vista Codec Package v5.0.5 is the latest stable version. More direct to the download link is |MG| Vista Codec Package 5.05 Final. It is an exe file.

You may need to remove all previous versions & types of codecs before installing the above. Different versions or brands of codec packs can clash otherwise.

When you say compressed do you mean the codecs themselves or the videos?
