Keeping in mind I've literally done
everything posted here by all the helpful folks (Lord of the Rings especially) and nothing at all worked for me. Your mileage may vary as to whether or not this does anything for you. I probably am including way too many steps that are unnecessary, but wanted to say exactly what I did, just in case it's one of those oddball things that was what worked.
On the advice of (hope I got the name right) Just a Hobo over in the regular LimeWire forums, I downloaded the new 5 Alpha basic version at
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire Alpha . During installation, I got a message that my Java Runtime had expired and the program wouldn't install until I fixed it.
Now I have it set so I get alerts from Java when a new version is released and I
know I updated a couple of weeks ago. But I went to
java.com: Java + You and downloaded the new version 6, update 11 anyway.
I finished with 5 Alpha and actually got some results but the interface was killing me - uggggo, sorry LW. I figured the worst I could do was reinstall Pro and if I had to, go back to 5 Alpha. I used the link I had gotten when I purchased Pro back in November, which actually ended up leading to 4.18.
And lo and behold, I started getting results. Not too many, but some. Then I went back to my bookmark, updated back to 4.18.8 and still am getting search results!
Now, I find that I'll do some searches and get nothing or maybe one or two results. I'll just go to my Connections tab and drop
all of my connections, reconnect back to Turbo and search again and I've actually been getting 5-80 results per search now at most times, depending on how obscure the subject.
Sometimes I have to drop my connections several times to get a good selection, but as long as I'm getting something, I don't care. And I don't know if it was the new version of Java, something that got uninstalled/erased or what, so that's why I listed everything I did.
Hope it helps someone.
