OSX Firewall settings for Tiger/Leopard. Panther's firewall is almost identical to Tiger's firewall settings.

The problem could be related to your modem/router .. not to know yet. Can try these options too: If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link) .. not sure if that link is in the thread you saw or not.

Need more details of your set up to help with connection issues.
