as you can tell I cannot connect to LW any more but I have been downloadind for several years and I really do not want to lose any files.
I have xp home , DSl and have just installe Norton 360.
I spent several hours yesterday chatting with Norton and they claim their product is ok, and I believe them because I couldn't get to LW with Norton uninstalled. We reinstalled Norton and still no connection
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ben,
Find out where your files are saved to: in LW go tools > options > saving. Now you'll see the location of the folder where your files are saved. If you're using 4.12.5 then the default location for saving is
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Shared. That's a safe location & if you uninstall LW then you won't lose your files. If your saving location is different to that, make sure that the files aren't being saved within LW's Program Files or Application Data, or anywhere within LimeWire. That could mean that you'd lose files if you uninstall
It's always a good idea to back up your saved files, just in case you have major problems with your computer.
Another thing -
if you don't have your 4.12.5 installer saved, you'd lose that Pro version by uninstalling LW. And you can't download old Pro installers from the LW site.
Norton 360 includes a firewall, so you need to make sure that the XP firewall's off. Otherwise, the 2 will conflict with each other. Once the XP firewall's turned off, reconfigure Norton firewall to allow LW. Check out the links below for more info.
