Only reason I could think of is you have chosen your desktop as the download folder or somewhere to high up in the directory order. The normal location for downloading files to is listed here: If you updated LimeWire & cannot find your Downloads

It is very risky having desktop as download location. A virus could totally corrupt your user account desktop. O.o
