I wouldn't cry too much about missing out on the new version. There's been many complaints because LW left out many tools. And navigating can be confusing for users.

Which version of LW were you running before you updated to 4.18.8? On my system, I cannot get LW 4.18 or 5 to run. However I was able to get them to run on a different OSX installation on a different drive. So you'd think the answer would be reinstalling OSX, however I've done that. Not a reformat install however.
I presently use LW 4.16 on one OSX & 5 on the other.
Have you ever been able to run 4.18.x?
