Confused downloads partially or majorly complete just dissappear

i certainly hope someone has the ability to hlp me here because i`m totally mystified.I recently searched for and downloaded (or began downloading) four movies i have wanted for ages.LOw and behold they where available checked for potential harm and quality and again yippee all good.I started the downloads and luck agian was with me as all where downloading at avery fast rate ( for AUstralia anyway). In the n middle of the night on a call of nature i quickly checked all was well and it was i had on average downloaded 60% or more of each of the movies. In the morning i hit the enter button to fire up the screen and right b4 my eyes about 30 seconds later the entire download investment simply vanished.I have checked every place i can think of ie., saved files ,incomplte files and no luck they appear to gone to god but with that amount of download megabytes i cannot believe thaey are not somwhere it would in total be in the order of 3gbs.I have before and since downloaded a movie (*** Highly recommended by the way)and no worries there all performed as expected .I have tried to download the same movies again but this time i am having great difficulty gettng past the searching for sources pain and after giving it days to locate a source have given up.I had on each of the movies checked the quality and in each case it was as reccomened by bitzi they where excellent copies. They then continued on their merry way until the incident i related happenned the next moorning. Can anyone help with advice as to where to look and hopefully recover them at the point at which they vanished and complete the download and also avoid it ever happenninmg aghain.I would also ask for some advice as to how to configure my firewall so nothing i choose to download from limewire is blocked in any way as i notice the brickwall icon displayed in the system tray although i am not sure thia is stoppiung my choices from finding sources
