For torrents, LW is not the best, it has limitations. Instead I would recommend either uTorrent or Vuse. I use Vuse myself.
Edit: one point about torrents is share ratio. LW does not appear to show or record this. Whereas some torrent users limit to sharing their files to people with a high'ish share ratio such as 1.0 which means equal or higher uploads than downloads in MB's. eg: mine is 2.3

For uploading, perhaps you can add descriptions to the files to make them found more easily. Some tips #2 & 3 here about that: How to Share Folders (click on link). And also enable chat. People rarely use chat for chatting nowadays anyway. And LW 5 no longer has this option.
