Use the GO menu & choose Utilities. Find Java folder & open Java preferences. If it does not list Java 1.6 then your computer is not compatible to run LW 5. You also need to be running OSX 10.5 Leopard.

If you cannot use Java 1.6, then as suggested by mustang guy, use the LW 4.18.8,

Apple only made their Java 1.6 in 64-bit. Not 32-bit. It is common practice for Apple to stop developing java for particular OSX versions & in this case types of mac computers also.
And hey, you're not missing much by not being able to use LW 5 if that's your case. It is really only in beta mode at moment despite they decided to release it as a full version. It is lacking many tools compared to LW 4. And many users find it difficult to navigate the program. Many new & experienced users of both mac & windows LW have been reverting back to LW 4.
