Ok, so it looks like I wasn't quite as thorough as I thought. I uninstalled all Java and then went to Java.com and re-installed latest verion, and now LW works. I'm sure that was one of the suggestions I read, so my apologies for not trying that first. Just goes to show that you shouldn't cut corners!
