Hi Paul,
You'll need some kind of burning software (eg iTunes, Windows Media Player, Nero). You might already have burning software installed on your computer
Nero's not free, but there's a trial version. iTunes is free & WMP should already be on your comp if you're using Windows
There's lots of other burning software around - if you use Google to look for
CD burning software - freeware then you'll probably find heaps more.
There are a couple of guides here - maybe have a look through these & see what you think.

When you say that you're not interested in mp3 - do you mean that you only want to download other formats, like .wma, .m4a etc? Or do you mean that you don't want to make mp3 CDs (which will only play in some CD players & not in others)?
If you don't want to make mp3 CDs then no problem... you can still download .mp3 files (bit safer than downloading .wma
).
In that case you can download files that are .mp3 format & when it comes time to make your CD, make an Audio CD & not an mp3 CD. An mp3 CD will be able to fit heaps more songs on (because the songs are all compressed) but lots of players won't play that type of CD.
If you're going to get LW, please get the free basic version & not Pro. Start off with the free version until you know that you're happy with LW! The official site for download is here:

If you're new to LW then you might be better off with an older version of LW, rather than the latest. If you go to this page:
Get LimeWire for Your Platform - Lime Wire
& click on LW 4.18.8 (under Past Releases) & then choose your platform.
If you want to use the latest version then it's also available from the link above but to be honest, the latest release isn't as user friendly as the older one & has some key tools missing
