Which operating system & version of LW are you running or attempting to use? See if above advice helps.

If not, do a safe boot (hold down shift key until you see the apple icon as you reboot), then repair permissions with Disk Utility. Then reboot normally. See if that helps.

If still problems, use Software Update to see if there's any updates awaiting. You might be missing the later Java versions in order to run LW 5 properly. Again, do a safe boot & repair permissions after any software update.
