Is there greater protection if you use a STEALTH port? Hello,
I'm using Windows XP
cable modem
Limewire 5.3.6
and
Zone Alarm Extreme Security (with filesharing protection enabled and all protection is selected in the Advance firewall) The firewall is set to block packets, trusted servers, internet servers, and ARP protection. This firewall with the settings mentioned is connected to the "STEALTH" NetBios port that is being used for Limewire's "listening port." The computer is set up as a client of an ICS/NAT Gateway running Zone Alarm Extreme Security.
I haven't been able to find an answer to this question on Google or on this forum.
How does a netbios port that is "STEALTH" react when used as my listening port in Limewire?
I would think it would provide greater protection against being tracked by hackers or me downloading a virus.
Another question: Does the person you downloaded the file from have to put virus or spyware in the download in order to track you or cause malicious intent? Would a "stealth port" as mentioned above offer protection against being tracked by hackers or spyware or viruses?
Look forward to your answer,
