Depends on many things. Your available download bandwidth, but just as importantly if not more-so is how much available upload bandwidth the hosts you are downloading from have to share with you. If they are dial up connection users for example, their upload bandwidth will be minimal. The uploads hosts may also be spending much of their upload bandwidth on uploading other files of theirs to other people at same time.

Can also depend upon whether these files are Gnutella network files or torrent files. If Torrent files they can control how much they wish to offer you .. with LW not being a well recognised torrent program they may prioritise bandwidth elsewhere.
