some files out there, including .sit files, can still be corrupted.

I've verified this by opening the files in a low-level Hex-Editor program like HexEdit 1.8. Of the 200 MB file, about 30% of the file was filled with all 0's--I mean like thousands of 0's in a row, which is just not right. A good .sit file shouldn't be like that. Hope this helps...
Oh dear, a disturbing report...30%!?
But this has to be brought to attention.
It really would be nice if one could just take a moment to check if the files are valid. I know this means extra work for those who share, but at the end of the day, this saves a lot of people from disappointment and frustration...
