I've had this problem too. I've usually found that if I change the file name of the file, then I can play it. A lot of mp3 files have really long file names that include the artist and name of song. IIRC, Unix is the only OS that allows for infinately long files names.

So, I change the file name to something that my OS will recognize, and the files play just fine.
