The Windows version of LW 5 has a bug with Java 7, so you have a choice between using Java 6 without problems, or using Java 7 but with a shortcut to the LW java file. JRE version though I am not sure it matters.

Also please note, if you are using the Java 7 64-bit, you should update the 32-bit Java last. There seems to be some kind of problem otherwise.
