Not any special helpful news. At least in my testing on Ubuntu LW refuses to run with Java 7 alone. Nor did it seem to work with the open java 6. On linux you can have a few versions of java installed and simply make java 6 the default (and I think link particular purposes to particular versions.) I don't know how others got LW to work on their Linuxes. But I had to install the Sun (Oracle) Java 1.6 and set it as default to get LW 5 to work. For my ubuntu I needed the jre-6u43-linux-x64.bin file, found here (along with others), without the need to register, give name, address, phone, company, purpose, name of the neighbor's cat.
