I do not want to declare any strong allegience here in suggestions to you although I have most definite feelings about your question - In my position here it is best to try to stay neutral
Saying that, I would recommend that you try
Gnucleus.
I say this because the other main clients are all in a stage of development which is no where near completed.
Gnucleus is always under development and is probably the most stable and easy to use of the Gnutella clients,
for the moment-
You should then have few if any problems with resuming downloads.
