Microsoft doesn't make a great Java virtual machine (JVM). Sun's is better, but doesn't work very well on a Microsoft OS. What to do?
I downloaded and installed the JVM from IBM (on a Windows 98 machine)!
After I installed it, LimeWire quit 'acting up' (freezes, system lockups, and altogether not being very nice to my available memory). Make sure you elect to use IBM's JVM as the 'system' virtual machine when prompted by the installer.
If you are having problems getting LimeWire to work stabily on your Windows OS, give it a try at:

On the right hand side of the webpage is a 'download' link.
I think this should be a FAQ on the LimeWire site, but hey, I'm just a user... if it works for you, please post a reply. If it doesn't let people know too!
