Direct connecting has everything to do with the Gnutella Network. It IS the Gnutella Network. Each of us is directly connected during any file transfer.
This is different from what I believe you are imagining when you connect to a so-called HOST or 3 or 3 or more.
We are all hosts, there are no servers, we are ALL servers and this is one of the biggest reasons why Gnutella Network should be able to survive. Will surv¡ve!
