Too much is things that I don't use regualrly. Eight (8) things isn't that much.

Actually, I was perhaps a little ambigous before. Apache (HTTP server) and Windows Messenger are actually services that provide an icon to open/control them.

Further, most of these things require little memory. Mozilla is the biggest, as it acts like IE (loads itself into memory to start faster). Besides, these apps aren't processing the slew of GUI messages that they would be if all things were open when they're in the system tray.

Not to seem rude, but maybe the reason you can't run more than one thing at a time is a hardware problem. Or maybe you haven't upgraded Windows in years and think that newer versions differ in name only. Or maybe you use Linux or similar and have an exaggerated view of Windows.
