Geocities, now owned by yahoo, puts tons of java into pages that wastes resources, disallows lots of things and puts those stupid ads. The scripting also contains errors.
They impose harsh bandwidth limits and limit anything that resembles an image to be called from a page on their server, however the http server itself doesnt do this. Apache and IIS both will send an image to anybody who requests it, as long as they're allowed to.
