Basically I think it would be a good idea to use it to prevent connections to these bots that the big businesses are starting to use.
It's not that I condone piracy, just I fear kind of the same thing happening with gnutella that happened with Napster. Napster at one point got so bad that independant artists couldn't even host their works for download because the name for their group kind of "resembled" one of the bigger names in music.
For example: say I share a file named "The Hairy Potter.pdf." In reality, this is a story about a guy with a lot of hair that makes pottery, but one of these 'cyber cops' would instantly assume I was trying to pirate an ebook I didn't own or have permission to distribute. Typos and misspellings are common on file sharing networks anyway, and I highly doubt they take the time to download and verify that it is in fact, pirated material. |
