Please explain one thing:

With Limewire version 2.3.1 i was able to have up to 30 000 hosts.
(usually about 20000).

With all the latest LimeWire´s I get up to 300 hosts or so.

Is this the future of Limewire?
The future of filesharing?

I always thought we get more and more users into the gnutella-net...where are they?

How can this be?

thanks in advance

Hello!

Recently the newer versions of Morpheus do not report the number of hosts that is connected to them so this means that they will breake LimeWire statistics so these statistics is no longer accurate.Exactly as the other one have stated. But they are in reality connected to alot of other hosts except if you are connected to one of the bad Morpheus Ultrapeers. For some stupid reason to be an Ultrapeer is the default setting in Morpheus when selecting a connection speed greater then modem speed atleast that is what I have heard and since not even most Cable/ADSL users should be an Ultrapeer only T-1 or T-3 users should be that the result will be that that Ultrapeer will chocke up and become a bottle neck on the network that only have a few connections up and your Horizon will become small.Hopefully future realeses of Morpheus will have a different standard setting when installed because most Morpheus users do not know about all this technology stuff and do not make the neccesssary change in their preferences to be a good Gnutella user. But we should not blaim that on them instead the developers behind Morpheus should do something about it in their next realese. But unfortunatelly we cannot get rid and should not get rid(block) of Morpheus Ultrapeers and other Morpheus users because after all they do represent about 85-90%(about 90 million users worldwide) of the entire Gnutella user base.So when it comes to the number of users it is the biggest file sharing client ever only Kazaa can compete with about 78 million users.

My advice if you feel that you are getting bad results on your searches is to make several multiple seraches very fast and if that dont work then you can disconnect from the file menu and reconnect and hopefully you will get a better set of Ultrapeers that you are connected to and your horizon will grow significantly.
