Hello!
It seems like we have to go into some serious trouble shooting techniques!.
Are you sure that you are not using the pay version of Stuffit?
The pay version bealieve it or not actually performs much worse then the free version does.If you have the pay version then delete it from your system and download and install the free version.
Have you tried the different methods of opening the .sit files as I described in my previous response?.Sometimes it is impossible to expand files from whitin the LW shared folder and you have to move the file to the desktop before expanding and sometimes it is neccessary to drop the file on SE rather then just clicking the file and sometimes it is even neccessary to actually open up SE and then from whitin SE expand the file.
Have you as I described in my previous post checked your HD and performed the system cleaning operations as I described?(Has to be performed from whitin Classical Mac OS 9.X when booted into classic).
Do you have the Stuffit application installed in both Operative Systems?.
If not then make an installation in Classical Mac OS 9.X and then try it once again.
I would recommend you to download a new .sit file from Gnutella from your home computer and then once again try to expand it under Classical Mac OS and not Mac OS X.
If all this fails then it is time to check the Stuffit Expander preferences.
Open up Stuffit Expander without dropping any file on it.Then from the file menu select Preferences and then check the following settings:
Under Expanding make sure that the following settings are selected and checked
Expand Archives
Expand Encoded files
Continue to expand(If Possible)
Under Joining check that these options are checked:
Join Segmented files
Expand Joined File(If possible)
Under Disk Images check that the following option is checked:
Mount Disk Images
Under Destination make sure that the following options are checked:
Same As Original
When the archive contains multiple items
Under Watch Folder check that the following setting is correct:
Wait 0 minutes and check again.
Under Internet check that the following settings are correct.
Click the button Use Stuffit Expander for all available file types and then click ok and close Stuffit and the re start your computer for all the changes to take effect.
Now once again try to open up the .sit files using the methods I described in my previous post.
