Limewire sharing files in the iTunes music folder and how to get songs into iTunes. I'm trying to figure out if there is a easy way to share MP3's that are in my iTunes song library. As you know that Library is nested. However limewire wants you to place all downloads and MP3s in its "shared" folder. This means that you could potentially have two copies of all MP3's on your mac. I don't want to have two copies of all songs on my computer. What a waste of HD space.
So it would be great if you could point Limewire at your iTunes music library and then it would share out any files nested in folders below that folder.
Maybe there is a way to do this but I haven't found it yet.
As for all the post about how to import music into itunes here is the easiest way.
1) Launch iTunes (Version 3)
2) Go to the iTunes menu and select the preferences item.
3) Select advanced (the cog wheel)
4) Make sure to turn on the last box "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library"
5) Open Lime wire
6) Determine where your limewire shared folder is. "should be on your HD - Users folder - "user name" - shared folder
7) Leave this window open. When done downloading a file go to this window.
8) double click MP3s here and iTunes will automatically launch, add the song to your library and copy the file to your iTunes music library.
9) At this point you can delete the download in the Limewire folder if you like. (however this file won't be available for sharing if you do so.) |
