Thanks Antihedron for the search info. Thats good news since i was ready to assume this was like most other programs in that dept. The only other file sharing program that saves your searches that i've seen is Audiognome, a site that i used for a very long time until recently. I'm not sure if Audiognome used the Gnutella system, don't think so since they use the napigator server list and all its well known network of servers like Necessary Evil, DJNap etc ,etc. Whatever the case may be I know if I went to Audiognome and searched for the same song that yielded zero results on Xolox I would get plenty to choose from. So maybe it sounds like complaining but if your going to search for things outside the mainstream and you get nothing over and over again well i'm sorry but thats how I judge a site. Most of the mp3's that I got from napster, audiognome, audiogalaxy and others would be unheard now on many of these sites. So i guess the analogy would be that the central servers were like one big record store that had everything you could ever dream of and now its become more of a mainstream chain store. Pretty disappointing for the discrimnating music freak wouldn't you say?
I'm on dial up so i can't share much so would you mind explaining how i can increase the scope of my searches? You said to increase the upload speed(right now i have it at max). Does it matter what i'm sharing and if i raise it will it decrease my download speed even if I'm sharing nothing or very little? Thank you. |
