Unfortunately a lot of people seem to share files without checking them or even move incomplete files to the shared folder (you can notice the telltale Txxxxxxxx prefix for Limewire incompletes). I usually do several searches before downloading software to try and get a feel for what the correct size should be. This is more difficult for videos since size depends on what type of compression has been used.
Limewire doesn't seem to like sharing the computer with other applications. I usually close Limwire before running procesor intensive applications like Photoshop or Logic Audio. Also there are some extension conflicts that crop up for me (as often happens with OS9). I have several extension groups saved in the extension manager. I use the basic OS9.2.2 as a base and activate only necessary extensions for whatever application I want to use. If I activate all extensions at once, I invariably get conflicts and crashes. Crashes also chip away at the system files (especially extensions), which eventually start producing errors. An answer to this is to have a clean copy of the extensions folder which you drag into your working extensions folder to replace any damaged files, thus avoiding having to do a full reinstall. |
