I have the same problem with Debian/woody/2.4.0. The installation crashes with the following message:

The "other" method tells me:
~/bin > java -classpath LimeWireOther.zip install
Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread


To be honest, I have problems to undertstand the *-instructions in the help file.
Can anybody give me a hint?
