Try rebuilding the Mac Desktop- Restart, then hold down the command and option keys as the extensions/control panels are loading, before your desktop appears- you'll be asked if you want to rebuild the desktop file, answer yes, and let it do its thing. This may not be the ultimate cause of your problem, but it does nothing but good- it will make all generic icons eturn to normal & fix other OS problems. Hope this helps...
