Hello..
I have an Archos MP3 player that is basically a USB hard drive when I connect it to my machine. I have been using this with LimeWire over the past few days.. I store my files in a directory on this drive and have shared the whole drive for use by LimeWire / people on the Internet.
Well, this afternoon I went to play some music and MusicMatch which is the software I use for my music library, said it could not find the file.. I thought "wierd", so I played some other music, and eventually came upon another missing file.. I eventually had MusicMatch "repair broken links" and it found 282! missing MP3 files.. Keep in mind that I had just created my library a day or so BEFORE installing LimeWire so I am 100% sure those files were there.. Now they aren't!
This isn't a huge deal because of the 170+ hours of music I had on my MP3 player, 99% of it was from CDs that I own that I ripped.. so I can just get those songs from my CDs again.. but it is still VERY alarming that 282 music files were suddenly GONE from my MP3 player..
Does anyone have any idea? Is it possible that someone could delete files off my machine through LimeWire? Or was LimeWire (it kept crashing today..) to blame?
I was running 2.8.5 and it crashed once and I sent the debug info to
bugs@limewire.com and got a message back about "downgrading" but could not find the older version of LimeWire to download.. and I did an uninstall of 2.8.5 and downloaded what was supposedly 2.8.4 from the LimeWire site but it installed again as actualyl 2.8.5.
Needless to say I am DONE with LimeWire.. But I'd still like some feedback on ideas about my mssing files..
Thanks
Rich
